Who Writes SHSATinfo.com, and How We Fact-Check It

SHSATinfo.com is maintained by Bell Curves, an NYC test-prep company founded in 2003. This page exists so you can judge our sourcing for yourself before trusting anything else on this site.

Why Bell Curves Built This Site

Bell Curves was founded in New York City in 2003 around a specific problem: SHSAT preparation was concentrated where families could already afford it, while the test itself decides who gets a seat at eight of the city's most competitive public high schools. Bell Curves builds SHSAT curriculum, tracks how the test changes each year, and partners with schools and community organizations to get that preparation to more students, not just the ones who could already find it.

SHSATinfo.com is the free reference layer behind that work: the dates, scoring mechanics, and cutoff data any family needs regardless of whether they ever become a Bell Curves client.

Who Reviews This Content

Every page is checked by Bell Curves' SHSAT curriculum team, the instructors who write the practice material students use and who track the NYC DOE's SHSAT Handbook, released cutoff data, and format changes each admissions cycle. The same team built the diagnostic-first prep framework referenced throughout this site: for each question, what do you see, what do you know, and what do you do, because a knowledge gap, a recognition gap, and an execution gap each need a different fix.
